Tiwi Islands art centre, Milikapiti
Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association
A remote Tiwi Islands art centre needed a website that honours Tiwi art and an online store that runs itself.
The challenge
What needed
solving
Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association represents Tiwi artists in Milikapiti on Melville Island, working across painting, printmaking, ironwood carving, stringybark and textiles. They needed a contemporary site that respects the work, and a store fed directly from SAM so nobody had to enter artworks twice.

Our approach
How we
did it
We designed a clean, gallery-like site with room for the art to breathe, editorial pages on Tiwi art and culture, and a shop organised by medium, the way the centre catalogues its collection.
The store is connected to SAM through Defyn's own SAM plugin, so artworks, artists, photos, stories and prices appear online as soon as they are recorded.
The outcome
Jilamara now has a site that matches the calibre of work coming out of Milikapiti, and a store the centre team barely has to touch.
