New Business Address Not on Google Maps? How to Fix It

7 min read By

Moving into a brand new estate is exciting until a customer rings to say Google sent them to an empty paddock. New roads and addresses often take a while to show up in mapping data, and in fast-growing areas like the industrial estates along Mamre Road or the new precincts around Western Sydney Airport, plenty of businesses open before the map catches up.

The good news is you do not have to wait. Here is how to get your business, your road and your pin showing correctly on Google, Apple Maps and Bing.

Why new addresses go missing

Google, Apple and Microsoft all build their maps from a mix of government address data, mapping partners, satellite and street imagery, and reports from users. When a developer finishes a new estate, the roads are built, councils allocate street numbers, and that information then has to flow into each mapping system. Every step takes time, and the newest streets are always the last to arrive.

Common symptoms include:

Step 1: confirm your official address

Before you touch any listing, check you have the exact official address, including the unit or lot number and the correct suburb and postcode. Your lease, council rates notice or the estate manager will have it. Use it everywhere, written exactly the same way, because inconsistent versions of the same address confuse every system that reads it.

Step 2: set up your Google Business Profile with a manual pin

Create or update your profile and type the address as accurately as you can. If Google cannot match it, you can still continue: drag the map pin to the exact spot where customers should arrive, such as your front office or loading dock entrance.

Then choose how your business appears:

For new addresses, Google often asks for a video verification showing your signage, the inside of your premises and something that proves you manage the business. Get your signage up before you start. Our Google Business Profile setup guide walks through the full process.

Step 3: report the missing road

If your street is not on Google Maps, report it. In Google Maps, choose to edit the map or send feedback, then pick the option to add or fix a road and draw it in. Add the road name exactly as it appears on the street sign. Reports are reviewed before they appear, so allow a few weeks.

Ask neighbouring businesses in the estate to do the same, or ask the estate manager to report all the new roads at once. More reports tend to mean faster updates.

Step 4: do the same on Apple Maps and Bing

A Google listing alone misses a lot of people.

Keep your business name, address and phone number identical across all three, and across directories too. Our guide to local citations explains why that consistency matters for local rankings.

Step 5: give people directions on your website

Until every map has caught up, your website should do the work. Add a simple location page or section with:

This helps customers, drivers and new staff, and it gives search engines clear, consistent information about where you are.

How long until everything shows up?

It varies. Google Business Profile changes can appear within days once verified. Missing road reports usually take a few weeks to be reviewed. Underlying address data can take longer. Check each map every couple of weeks and resubmit if nothing has changed after a month.

The bottom line

A new address should not mean months of lost customers. Confirm the official address, set your pin manually, report the missing road, claim Apple Maps and Bing Places as well as Google, and put clear directions on your website. Most businesses can be findable within a few weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my new business address not on Google Maps?

Mapping data for new estates and roads often lags behind construction. Google, Apple and Bing all update their maps from a mix of government data, partners and user reports, so a brand new street can take weeks or months to appear unless someone reports it.

Can I verify a Google Business Profile if my street is not on the map?

Usually, yes. Enter your address as accurately as you can, then drag the map pin to your exact location. If Google cannot match the address, it may ask for extra verification such as a video of your premises and signage.

How do I add a missing road to Google Maps?

In Google Maps, choose the option to edit the map or send feedback, then pick add or fix a road and draw it where it should be. Reports are reviewed before they appear, which can take a few weeks.

Do I need to update Apple Maps and Bing as well?

Yes. iPhone users default to Apple Maps, and Microsoft Copilot and Bing use Bing Places. Claim your business on Apple Business Connect and Bing Places so customers find you whichever app they use.
